Repeated Efforts Newsletter on “Winging” Shoulder Blades, Turning Pro, and Coaching a Perfectionist -6/9/21

3 EFFORTS FROM ME

1)  “Winging” shoulder blades may hinder shoulder health and performance.  Here is how to execute a bench press variation to help you manage this issue.

2)  We all get in ruts in our lives (God knows I have building a side hustle into a business).  One strategy I use to help get my ass in gear again is to reread Turning Pro.  It’s concise, candid, and encouraging.

“When we do the work for itself alone, our pursuit of a career (or a living or fame or wealth or notoriety) turns into something else, something loftier and nobler, which we may never have thought about or aspired to at the beginning.  It turns into a practice.” – Steven Pressfield

3)  I recently was coaching a perfectionist who was challenged with a new exercise.  I reminded her that it’s my fault and not hers when she doesn’t perform it “perfectly” – either I prescribed an exercise incorrectly or I chose for her to experience a degree of discomfort to grow.
