About

Strategic Fitness Training

There are many lessons I have learned from working over a decade in Division I Collegiate Athletics. These lessons have been cultivated from the thousands of hours coaching on the weight room floor, countless evaluations on the treatment table, and many rehab sessions with intricate injuries.

During this time, I worked with a wide variety of teams.  Each group of athletes has their own set of complex needs to raise their game. Working with everyone from golfers to crew or basketball allowed me to develop a diverse set of skills.

Within each team there was an additional level of variation supplied by each athlete. The unique personalities, different workouts, countless injuries, and the genetic freaks makes each interaction different and each training plan unique.

The overarching goal was not to show who could squat or bench press the most in the weight room. Rather, my goal is for the athletes to strive for their version of a body robust enough to show up each day to participate in the sports they love; the aim is to move well, feel strong, and be confident taking on the physical challenges awaiting them.

A customized training plan, properly implemented, can help regain this vigor and vitality; just like high level athletes but modified based on your current abilities – including beginners. A trainer’s experience matters.  It helps us choose the best exercise and the best program for you to recapture what you may have lost to father time or ineffective workouts.

Let’s work together to make exercise not just a grueling chore, but a useful strategy to build your active lifestyle.

Dan Sanzo

Dan Sanzo was the Associate Director of Sports Performance and Head of Strength and Conditioning at Northeastern University. With over a decade of experience in Division I College Athletics, Dan has been responsible for the strength and conditioning programs for multiple teams, and helping coordinate the return to sport related activities for numerous athletes. Prior to his career in the collegiate setting, Dan spent five years as an Athletic Trainer and Physical Education Teacher.

Dan’s own experiences battling with movement restrictions and pain throughout his twenty-plus years of resistance training and physical activity, as well as his incessant pursuit to evolve his understanding of health and human performance to find solutions to these issues have led to a refined approach to fitness.

He understands how it feels to be limited in the activities we love, and the frustration of seeking help from a dumbed-down and gimmicky fitness industry. The creation of Strategic Fitness Training LLC is a means to share successful knowhow and offer an exceptional individualized service compared to the cookie cutter standard.
